Riot police descend on Vancouver’s May Day rally

Vancouver’s May Day rally took a turn for the worse as protestors set a large fire in the middle of Commercial Drive and Charles Street late Tuesday.

SIghts and sounds from Occupy Vancouver’s last day at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The occupiers then moved on to Robson Square before a court injunction forced them out.

The occupiers move to their new ‘secret’ location — Robson Square in Vancouver — with the help of Jim Sinclair of the B.C. Federation of Labour.

Warning: Coarse language. Protesters from Occupy Vancouver marched to the building that houses Brookfield Properties to show solidarity with Occupy Wall Street, who have been evicted from Zuccotti Park, which the company owns.

The City of Vancouver has issued a notice, requesting protesters at the Occupy Vancouver encampment remove their tents and personal belongings immediately.

The Occupiers will be granted a stage and sound system, according to the notice.
