Mounties from the Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, and UBC detachments, as well as officers from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and the gang-fighting Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit came together to talk about being openly gay while in the RCMP.



Canada’s Conservative government is arguing that same-sex couples who have married in Canada are not legally wed.
Same-sex marriage was effectively legalized in Canada in 2004, and  passed into law a year later. Since then, more than 15,000 same-sex  marriages have taken place, with more than 5,000 involving couples from  outside Canada.The government is now contending that  non-Canadian same-sex couples who have been married here are only  considered married if gay marriage is also recognized in their home  country or state.Thoughts?

Gays should not have special protection, B.C. Conservative Cummins says

"I’m not a scientist," Cummins told Victoria’s CFAX radio station, but "some of the research tells me that there’s more of an indication that that’s a choice issue."

Cummins went on to say homosexuals and lesbians do not need special human rights protection because “people are already protected under the human rights code. In my view it was not necessary to add another category.”
